Ballet costumes are an essential part of stage design and can be seen as a visual record of a performance. It is often a feature of a production that represents a fictional representation of the play's premise. Fashion may change, but the tutu skirt does it is still a chic and classic ballet costume.

The modern tutu has several versions. First, there is the classic skirt which consists of 10-12 layers of stiff tulle sewn into the skirt. The lower small layers of tulle support the larger layers that stand at the hip.

The Inverted Tutu it is something in between the classic tutu and romantic tutu. It is made of different layers of tulle that stand out like a classic tutu, but the layers are longer and lower, usually mid-thigh.
